Is this World TOO COMPLEX?

It’s been a while since I posted anything on here (as usual). So let’s fix that :).

ervin-visualization

Is this world too complex?

That is a question that I have been asking myself lately. So let’s take a look at some things that may make this world complex.

keep-calm-and-screw-politicsThere is politics, boy what a battlefield that is. But the funny thing about politics is that in the grand scheme of things in regards to planet Earth, it is all irrelevant. People don’t need politics to live, they are just there because it helps bring people into “twisted” power to govern the human world. These powers also make way for sometimes unnecessary legislation that are created just to keep several lawyers and other people employed. But those same legislation may end up making the life of the average person more difficult.

On top of that, the fact that there are permits for basically anything and everything in more developed nations nowdays makes life more complicated. For example, if you want to do some construction work on your OWN property, you need a permit. I guess its another way for the government to make money and keep track of what is happening in THEIR city. It’s like we need to ask for permission for almost everything nowdays.

But that isn’t what peaks the complication mountain for the human world. No, the worst of all is things like social media. It creates unnecessary drama, and should be purged. In fact social media should only be left for professional and or positive uses. Or have people that are constantly checking these sites to purge any drama related content. It makes life unnecessarily complicated for people. Because this drama is over the internet between people who most likely don’t know one another.

tumblr_ng4fuam1df1r0anl7o1_1280

I can go online right now and start up some crap with another stranger online, what will that gain us? Nothing really other than some superficial attention. It will complicate life for no reason.

anbgt

Society used to be simple, life used to be simple. In today’s technological world, people say that life is better than ever before. But is it really?

Look at all the regulations you have to abide by, and I’m talking about the ones that involve filling out a crap ton of legal paper work. Look at the lack of respect so many companies have for their customers, they are only their money bags after all. In the past, there was a sense of respect and to some degree honor between the two in the form of loyalty.

Don’t get me wrong, loyalty still exists. But in the form of professional loyalty, its harder to come by as so many people get riddled into the politics of the work place. So many people get distorted by the unnecessary politics and drama and so that trust, loyalty and honor start becoming meaningless.

e71b8b6498af8c284d9e14ee1a0d98e7

No, life is not simple. The human world is too complicated.

I look out the window to sometimes see rabbits passing by during the night. What do they do? Eat, drink water, sleep and occasionally mate whenever it’s mating season.

That is the definition of a simple life. They fight for survival on an equal playing field called Nature. In human society, those born into richer families have an advantage (at least for some time). Not all are born equal in the human world, but they are in Mother Nature.

The human world is too complicated. And it saddens me to say that it will only get more complicated from here on-wards thanks to the way we have evolved as a species.

2015keepitsimple

But there is one benefit to all these complications, sooner or later people are bound to realize that the world can be and is really simple. Maybe that realization may change many things that make this human world so complicated right now.

Social Media may be Distorting Us

Hey everyone,

Been a while since I wrote a post on here. This time I thought to write on the topic of social media.

Now let me first get this out of the way, I have nothing against social media. Social media is a tool, the meaning to that tool is given through how it is used. My main concern lies with the usage and the meaning it’s users (not all though) maybe giving it.

To start of, what sparked my interest in writing a quick post about this is thanks to the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HffWFd_6bJ0

In the video the main worrying point discussed for me was the fact that social media can act a lot like drugs or alcohol, giving instant gratification with the chance of becoming addictive.

This is not false, social media definitely has that gratification feeling to it that generally is similar to say alcohol. When you are drunk, you are taken on a “ride” thanks to the release of dopamine in your brain. Social media does the same. But unlike alcohol which is less likely to be consumed 24×7 by everyone, social media can affect many for a lot of their time during the day, and it can even be 24×7.

Let’s look at another video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QWoP6jJG3k

The main point in this video is talking about the importance of “fame” to young kids these days who use social media. Because let’s be honest here, we all like having our work be acknowledged. Knowing that someone out there acknowledged our work is definitely going to give us some gratification. But as the video also discusses, there is also the opportunity to have your work be slandered online, or worse, you could be cyber bullied.

There is also the interesting point of day dreaming and imagination in that video. According to the video, teens don’t tend to drift off as much as they would have in the days without social media or any of the technology we have today. I agree that it helps train the mind to be more empathetic, but it also keeps the imagination healthy and alive. Why else do we see kids losing their imagination as they grow up? This would be one of those reasons. They are too busy trying to obtain “fame”/instant gratification online for causes that may mean nothing in the long run.

Social media as I said before is a tool. The meaning is given to that tool through its usage. People who use social media to help share causes they care about to BETTER THE WORLD, or help share useful and practical knowledge, in my opinion you are doing it RIGHT.

To those that use it in the hopes of being famous, thinking only about the likes, use it as a means to bully others or drown out MEANINGFUL content with junk posts, you are doing it WRONG.

Social media definitely has distorted us, and by effect our society to some extent. I can understand more and more now why the Millennial generation is called the Me generation. By the way, I’m from the Millennial generation.

Another good point brought up in the second video is the change in values being taught in shows these days. I don’t necessarily agree or disagree to the values being taught by the older TV shows, but one thing is abundantly clear that media has a HUGE effect on our minds. This also proves that media is just another means of controlling the populace through the messages shows send out nowdays.

Personally I’m glad I didn’t have a cell phone until I was in my 20’s. Nor did I have any social media accounts despite the pros I would hear about it from my friends at times. It kept me away from all the social media craze, it gave me moments to myself to be imaginative, creative and it also what helped me develop my interest in writing and some other creative hobbies. Had I been part of that social media craze from a much younger age, I’m sure I would be a very different person today.

To end this post, I have another video. This one is rather comedic, but also true to some extent and very well animated: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZfvogC6G3k

Humanity Moving in the WRONG direction?

Note: This post may get a little heavy for some readers. It is one of those deep thought type of posts.

4946933

I was just struck by this thought very recently and the more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that we may not be in the golden age we may think to be in.

In terms of the economy, all around the world it is either up, down or simply put stable. Society wise it is either improving, stable or degrading. Technologically we are booming. This is where my concern comes in when faced with the question “Is humanity moving in the wrong direction?”

b5986f573077e70f575aa789ceceed48e2426509660ba464028af04e428ae224My answer to this question is going to be very subjective as I can only answer based off of my experiences and my perception of reality. Do keep that point in mind when you read any further from here on. Also, the points I make below are not meant to be a generalization, I realize my argument won’t apply to all.

Technological innovations seem to be heard about on a daily basis in first world countries. You can hear about them even in third world countries if you have the means to. But amidst all these innovations I feel as if we are drifting further from Mother Nature. This planet, it’s ecosystem we refer to as nature gave us life.

Yet here we are in a day and age where we place more emphasis on new technological innovations. We find more pleasure in technology than we do in nature. This point I’m sure is not applicable to everyone, there are still those who value nature over technology. But with the creation of social media platforms, eSociety platforms that aim to heavily integrate technology into running a society and our smart phones I feel we are getting lost amidst all this technology.

technology-addiction-300x336Maybe I’m just burnt out on all the technology I’m surrounded by or maybe I just yearn for a more nature driven lifestyle. But when I go on the train, I see people glued to their phones and tablets watching videos. There is a whole world around you, things to be seen, observed and learned. Yet people are glued to technology like its their god. Again this doesn’t apply to everyone, but from my experience I have seen the majority attract towards technology over nature.

I think we are moving in the wrong direction. If technology is used to enhance our existence as well as the existence of other animals, its cool. Look at using digital ways of documenting, sure helps the tree population. But when we come to things like social media platforms, eSociety platforms that have social media aspects to them, I tend to ponder just how will this enhance the world as a WHOLE on a general level?

Sometimes it feels like certain aspects of technology is taking over extremely important aspects of life. Social media for example, so many people use it on a daily basis so much so that sometimes they forget to have a proper face to face conversation. Or they become so reliant on these technologies it tends to take away some important social skills. I know from experience as social media has affected me quite a bit. No doubt this is also one of the reasons I seem to be growing a certain aversion to technology.

I would much rather see people with their heads up and with a smile on the train than glued to their phones. But hey, if you are watch something hilarious feel free to laugh out loud because laughter may just spread all around the carriage bringing a little bit of joy to everyone.

o-corrupt-money-facebookFrom my perspective, humanity is going in a very bad direction. We look up to the skies hoping to colonize on other planets through our technological innovations and marvels. Yet we can’t seem to solve some of the most serious issues we have right now down here. Issues like corruption, poverty, injustice and inequality. What good will moving out into space do us if we can’t seem to grow as a species? Humanity is still taking baby steps in psychological evolution as a species, yet hoping to take giant leaps in technological advancements.

At this point I simply feel like I’m rambling, so I may as well end this post soon. Simply put, maybe people need to step back from all the technology and again find what really made it worth living on this world. It was and still are the experiences we get through personally doing something worthwhile for others, the planet and not just be stuck to using technology all day long.

But hey, for what its worth I will give credit where it is due. Human species is not all bad as this post may make it seem to be, there are good qualities. But in a distorted world like ours, it seems to me that it takes more effort to find the good than the bad.

Still I know I feel like my mind is being sucked dry nowdays by using computers and phones too much. How about you?

What do you think of the direction humanity is taking?

Detachment of the Body, Reality & the Mind

Ever hear the term detachment?

Most likely you have, if not here is one of the few handy definitions for you.

Detachment: a condition in which something has become separated from something else

Go here for more definitions on the word.

detachment-2

So lately I have been feeling a sense of detachment. I suppose it would be fitting to say that this all started last week. First we had an emergency with our pet dog who turns out to be having some health issues, that I’m sure plays a part in this. Then I have also been faced with some other decisions in life which no doubt help play a role in this as well. On top of that my body fell a little ill due to the quickly changing weather from warm sunny days to very cold rainy days.

What I find most interesting in all this however is the feeling, or lack of them that one may experience during these detached experiences. We all live by our own reality, it is just on a majority of things we all tend to agree on because they can either be explained logically or scientifically and be proven through demonstrations. But there are things in life we perceive uniquely and that helps shape our reality. Now imagine where you just feel that you are drifting further away from your reality.

out-of-body2-297x300

What do you think that feels like?

I will preface this by saying that these are momentary, very short in their time frame. So what I experience is lightheaded, dizziness and a near total numbness of my body. That numbing causes me to loose feeling in my whole body giving a sort of a light feeling. Generally when you are lightheaded, your mind will tend to go blank, or just drift away into the deeper cracks of your mind. I suppose that is what has happened with me as well as every time I come back, I feel as if I had left my reality for a moment in favor of whatever lies within my imagination, or in favor of simply drifting in a void.

It may sound sad to some, while to others it may sound like a nice momentary escape. To me, I think it happens for a reason. It happens to help the mind cope with the stress, negativity and the burdens we all experience as adults due to the trivialities we must deal with of living in human society. This is further enhanced by the fact that if you are a young adult struggling to get off the ground, that imagined land, or the void may seem more favorable in place of the reality you perceive daily.

Is this healthy?

1417580505897257

In short doses, maybe. I mean we all need to get away from just about everything in our life sometimes. But if you do this all the time, or most of the time then I would say you are compromising your survival in human society. Sadly we all can’t just sleep forever living in our perfect world, we are not the center of the universe for the rest of the human population.

But that feeling of drifting away to a better place will no doubt be now deeply ingrained in my mind.

Thanks for stopping by and reading. Got something to contribute or just want to comment? Don’t hesitate to chuck it down below in the comments section :).

Video Games & The Mindset

You know, I have always been surprised at the power a mindset can have over how fun, engaging and accepting we can seem of things. This is true for video games as well. Lately as I play Borderlands 2, I have been struggling to get into it 100%. My last game, Tales of Symphonia had this problem as well. But for that game, I was in it at the start, but due to its enormous length I was starting to get fatigued.

video-game-memes-i-have-the-most-boring-story-right-now

With Borderlands 2 however, it is a different story. From the start it felt like an on off experience. There are things in the game that excite me, yet things that dreadfully bore me. For example, the exploration, even if bare it is still fun. But when it comes to the action, it becomes boring quite quickly if I engage in it for too long. That is indeed quite sad since the bulk of enjoyment from Borderlands 2 comes generally from the action.

53467048

Quests that have non-action objectives I find more intriguing than ones involving going to some place and shooting up something. I had the same problem with the original Borderlands as well. Most of the time I find my mind going numb from all the shooting as I finally shut down the PS3 at the end of the gaming session. That is not a good feeling to have after playing a game. I suppose one could argue that this just isn’t my cup of tea.

081BUT then something happened. Something changed my mindset on this game completely and that is partaking in the 4 player co-op. When I play with other people, the game becomes more exciting to play through due to the social aspects of team work. When I play by myself, it is nothing more than a chore, while at times it becomes interesting. Borderlands I believe was a game designed with action, loot, exploration and team work in mind. I enjoyed my co-op sessions on the original one quite extensively compared to playing on my own.

There is quite an interesting correlation between the mindset and the tasks you do. With the right mindset the tasks can be bearable, with the correct mindset they can be fun. But when your mind is just not into something, it will feel like a chore to grind through.

There are certain video games you can just pop on in and get playing, while others require a certain mindset to really get into it. The Borderlands series is just a few of those games I suppose. One of the things I have found that helps the most when I play is just taking a vehicle and driving around. If I come across enemies, I simply ignore them and drive around trying to find new locations and lootable places. It definitely does help, that is until the game forces a large action segment onto you… =_=.

I know a lot of people love Borderlands and its sequels. What has your experience been with the Borderlands series?

Thanks for reading.

Video Game: The Suffering Ties that Bind

Hey everyone,

Today I bring another video game recommendation all the way back from when I first took a serious interest in gaming. The game is “The Suffering: Ties that Bind” by Surreal Software, and published by Midway Games.

Details:

  • Name: The Suffering: Ties that Bind
  • Genre: Action/Adventure/Psychological Horror
  • Platform(s): Windows, PS2 & Xbox
  • Year released: 2005

Game Summary (From the box): The City has it’s demons…but so do you. An inescapable enemy taunts and beckons Torque, even as he fights to rid the horror from the streets. The dark heart of the city can seem very much like a prison, if you let it.

Lead Torque on an all-new battle through the mean streets of an urban nightmare.

Customize your insanity: use good or evil rage mode to destroy your enemies.

Dozens of new monsters and a few old favorites await your wraith.

Use anything from pipes to rocket launchers to exact your revenge.

Why I recommend it: If you’re one of those first-person/third-person shooter fans who like fast paced combat with at least a mediocre story thrown into the mix, you’ll like this one.

As the box said, you can use anything from a lead pipe to a rocket launcher for combat and that is true. There is both melee combat as well as some pretty good gun play involved. The environments aren’t too bad either in the opening levels. But they can seem repetitive quite quickly later on into the game due to it’s bland colors (it is an urban city after all that is meant to be shrouded in gloom).

The enemy designs, some of which were done by the Stan Winston Studio are great. On top of that, Torque’s rage mode designs for all the affinities (good, neutral or evil) are always a treat to see in action. One of the best things about the rage mode is that every affinity carries a different set of powers. To get your status within the good or evil scale, you are usually presented with a choice to help someone (good), leave them be (neutral) or kill them (evil, even if it is by accident).

As you may imagine, the different affinities will result in different endings, and openings once you’ve achieved an ending once in the game.

One thing to note is that since this is a Midway game, they have used disc protection that makes it difficult to get running on Windows Vista or higher. XP or below is fine, but others are a no go. Your best bet in that case will be to download a digital copy. I’m unsure on this but you maybe legally able to obtain a digital copy since Midway went out of business and some of their games have been put up for legal download.

So if you like fast paced combat with a psychological horror esque story, then this maybe the next game you may want to try. Below are a few screenshots to get a quick look at the game:

Catch you all next time!

Manga: Doubt

Hey everyone, I come back to you all with another manga recommendation. This is for a manga that has been a rather surprising read for me from the first time I read it. The manga’s name is “Doubt”.

Details:

  • Name: Doubt
  • Author: Tonogai Yoshiki
  • Genre: Horror/Mystery/Psychological/Tragedy

Summary:There is a rather popular but somewhat secretive game being played around Japan known as “Rabbit Doubt”. All the players within the game are considered “rabbits” within a “colony”, and one randomly chosen player is considered a wolf in disguise. Every round the wold will kill a rabbit, then the group will try to gather as much evidence as they can and investigate as to who the wolf could be.

This game can be played online or sometimes some meet up in person to make things more interesting. Yuu, Mitsuki, Rei, Hajime, Eiji and Haruka are a group of players who agreed to meet up in person to execute the game. But something goes very wrong when one of them decides to take on the mantle of the wolf, and has already killed once. Now it is up to the rabbits to figure out who the wolf is while fighting for their very survival.

Why I recommend it: If you’re a fan of thriller, mystery and horror manga then you’re bound to enjoy this. And don’t let the first few chapters fool you on what this manga is about. It may seem like run of the mill slasher manga, but after a few chapters things will start to heat up. This manga seems to play quite a lot on the reader’s assumptions and pulls a twist on just when you think you’ve got the identity of the murderer.

This manga is great for anyone who loves to apply their mind to engaging mysteries and at the same time read about them. Below are a few images to let you see the manga’s art style.

Thanks for reading, hopefully this gives you something new to read!
